Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention

To better prepare employees to fulfill compliance obligations, a comprehensive sexual violence/sexual harassment prevention training program is now required for all UC employees.  For information on the training requirement for all employees, view the University of California Policy on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence

Sexual Harassment Prevention for Non-Supervisory Employees

This assignment is required of all employees who are not required to complete California’s AB1825-mandated training for supervisory employees. It provides information on preventing and responding to sexual violence and sexual harassment and what each of us can to do to make our UC culture safer for all. It will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.

Assigned Audience: All non-supervisory employees, including student-employees
Schedule: Within six weeks of hire and every two years thereafter

Sexual Harassment Prevention for Faculty and Supervisory Employees

All employees who supervise others are required to complete sexual harassment prevention training every two years. In addition to staff supervisors, most academic employees (including all faculty) have been identified as having supervisory authority for the purposes of this law, and as such, are required to receive the training.  This is mandated by State Assembly Bill 1825 which went into effect in 2005.

Assigned Audience: Supervisors, Managers, and Faculty Members
Schedule: Within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter

  • A system-generated notification is sent to employees who are required to complete this assignment. An employee who does not receive an email, should check junk, spam, clutter, and other email folders. 
  • Failure to complete the assignment by the due date will have a negative impact on performance appraisal ratings and merit pay for policy-covered staff. Deans, chairs, and the Academic Senate will be involved to address noncompliance involving faculty.
